As many of you likely know, April was Autism Awareness Month. EMC has a special connection to the autism community via our extraordinary team member David. David has autism, and as a tribute to him and all our wonderful autistic customers, we decided to donate a portion of all crawfish sales in April to A-Camp.
A-Camp is a 6-week therapeutic day camp for children with autism that accepts all autism spectrum disorders. The camp is held every summer at Camp Aldersgate in Little Rock. It provides the opportunity to canoe, fish, hike, swim, sing, and create arts and crafts. A-Camp employs a buddy system, including at least 3 typically-developing buddies for every 7 campers with autism. This allows growth for both autistic campers and buddies alike.
When it was all said and done, the community helped us raise $1,194.85 through the purchase of crawfish. The check was presented to Camp Aldersgate on May 10th at our Little Rock location. We would like to thank all our customers that bought crawfish in April for helping us contribute to such a worthy organization!
